My '69 Chevelle
Welcome to my webpage for my '69 Chevelle. Here you will find lots of information about my car, and the work that we (my Dad and I) have/are going to put into it. Please use the above icons to navigate to the different areas of my site. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to give me an email via the contact icon.

The Car

I bought the car in July of 2001, from a person in the Canada Trader who lived in Stony Plain, Alberta, Canada. I started to seriously consider buying a car in the spring of 2001, because my only other vehicle is a 2000 Suzuki DRZ-400S (okay, it's not that clean). It's one kick-ass dual sport bike, but it doesn't drive too well in our Canadian winters. When I was thinking about a car, I had three options: 1) Buy a brand new car that would last for a long time; 2) Buy a beater car that would last for a few years; or 3) Buy an old muscle car and restore it. Now the obvious choice would be to go with either option 1 or 2, since it would solve my problem and I would have something to drive in the winters. Of course, though, I opted for the muscle car...I probably don't have to explain why to anyone who's reading this. Anyway, of all the muscle cars I looked at, I was stuck on either a '70-'74 Challenger/Cuda or a '68-'69 Chevelle. Since I didn't have the kind of money that would be needed to buy a Challenger/Cuda, I decided on a Chevelle (and now after having one, I actually think they look better ;) ). We went to look at a Pontiac LeMans (a sister car to the Chevelle) in Grande Prairie, Alberta, and I was very dissapointed. The car was in very bad shape, and wasn't worth 1/3rd of the $3500 he was asking. Then on Sunday, July 15th, 2001, we went to check out a Chevelle that appeared in this ad. Alot of people say that when you find your car, you know the first time you look at it. I saw this one, and immediately knew that I would go home driving it. After my Dad checked it over mechanically, I bought it for $4000. It was a little bit more than I was initially willing to spend, but I know that I got what I wanted. The car is a 1969 Chevelle Deluxe 300 Pillar Coupe 2 Door...it's not an SS, but it still looks mean ;) . The body was in great shape, the interior was perfect, and there were no major problems with the engine (we drove it all the way home (about an hour away) after it hadn't been driven in over 6 years). I hope to document the entire restification on this website, with both pictures and text. Hopefully it can help someone out there who is looking to get into this cool hobby.

About Us
I am a 29 year old Computer Engineering graduate from the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta. My Dad is a Heavy Duty Mechanic who owned his own heavy duty equipment repair/rental shop, and now works in the industry. Neither of us have done any sort of restoration before, so this is our first ever project. I have very little background with cars, but hope to use this experience to start building it. My Dad, on the other hand, is a great mechanic who can do all sorts of engine-magic, but has very little body-repair experience. This is going to be a huge learning experience for both of us, and I can't wait until my Chevelle is on the road crusin'.

Software
Here's some software that I developed that might be of interest to anyone working with cars:
  • Speed-RPM-Plot - This program is a utility that can be used to help determine the optimal transmission/differential/tire setup for your particular use.
